Very friendly and helpful staff. The reception, bar and restaurant area was very comfortable and welcoming.
The bed was too soft and no additional pillows in the room.

It's proximity to the station, just a few strides across the station forecourt and you are in the hotel. My room though basic i.e. no flashy furniture, was clean and comfortable. I had dinner in their Thai restaurant and had one of the best Thai green curries I have tasted.
Just once or twice I noticed that there was no one at reception and bar staff seem to cover occasionally. It feels a little odd walking straight into the bar with your suitcase and not immediately realising who to speak to.

I had a fairly nice stay for one night at The Imperial Hotel in Stroud, Gloucestershire. The staff was always polite and welcoming. The views of the Stroud valley from the hotel were magnificent. The rooms were new-fashioned and the beds exceptionally comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.

Location is fantastic (reason for the selection)
Noise in room 206 (back of hotel) was horrendous. There is obviously a pub or club next to the hotel and the screaming and shouting meant there was absolutely no way anyone would get any sleep until they had closed. We had to watch tv until 1.00am as trying to get to sleep was futile. Reception staff (Thai I think) hardly spoke English....very difficult to understand

Nice design and layout of the hotel. The food at breakfast was okish, nothing to write home about but filling. You have it in the main restaurant, which by day is a Thai restaurant, open to the public. It looked rather nice and it's a shame I didnt get the opportunity to try it out.
The room décor was extremely shabby. Peeling wallpaper stuck in place with sellotape, scratches and lumps on most walls, the tiling in the bathroom was all bowed and cracking. The bed, while looking nice, was so uncomfortable, lumpy and wobbly I had two very poor night's sleep. On top of that, the wifi didn't work properly and I had to stand in the corridor in order to get a signal.
